UNIKA møblar presents a series of tapestries "Rivers", created in collaboration with the Krasnodar brand of interior items Helen Loom.
In serial production of furniture, there are always leftover materials that can no longer be used for new items. UNIKA shares the philosophy of conscious consumption and strives to find solutions to problems related to the rational use of resources. This is how the idea of a collaboration with a brand from Krasnodar Helen Loom appeared.

The founder of Helen Loom, Elena Mazur, like UNIKA, appreciates simplicity, aesthetics and awareness. All materials from which brand products are made are natural and environmentally friendly. The main material for the tapestries that made Helen Loom famous in the professional community is merino wool, which decomposes in the soil in just a few years and therefore causes less damage to the environment.

In addition to wool, for the "Rivers" series, the remnants of fabrics from the production of UNIKA, torn into ribbons, were used. The story with ribbons is not new for Helen Loom: once Elena already worked on this principle - she even had a collection of bags made from torn ribbons. The fabric became the starting point for a new project: from its texture and color, Elena pushed off to try to do something new. She revisited the fastening and the edge itself, moving away from the fringe and concentrating on texture and color.

Tapestries from the "Rivers" collection are distinguished by their complex texture and details that are interesting to consider. In weaving, decorative elements are often used - beads, ceramics, thick ropes. In this work by Helen Loom, in addition to fabrics, a thick rope is used for the first time. Cords are a separate element that Elena carefully chose to achieve the effect of naturalness, softness and negligence at the same time.
The Rivers project became a personal experiment for Helen Loom, a new artistic experience. “I draw, but not with paints, but with threads. I leave, look at the composition, add colors, change the shape. Probably, from the outside it looks as if I really painted with paints, ”says Elena about her work.

An exclusive collection of tapestries for UNIKA by Helen Loom, using leftover fabrics, sends an important message towards conscious consumption through art. And its name "Rivers" once again emphasizes the transience of the material and calls for a careful attitude to natural sources.
